Project Based Learning

The program offers undergraduate and graduate students a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience in urban and rural heritage development in two ongoing projects in Indonesia. The participants will study the historic and technical backgrounds of the projects and design their own solutions under the guidance of distinguished professors from the Universitas Mercu Buana. The Project Based Learning program provides a certificate about the accomplishment of 3 academic credits which can be transferred to ongoing degree programs of the participants in their respective home universities.

Schedule

Day 1 : Participants arrival, dormitory check in

Day 2 : Project introduction lectures

Day 3 : Site survey at the old town of Tangerang

Day 4 : Individual studio design work and group discussions

Day 5 : Visit to Kampung Naga, site survey, lectures

Day 6 : Visit to Kampung Naga, workshops

Day 7 : Studio design work and group discussions, project presentations, closing ceremony and farewell event.

Day 8 : Free time

Day 9 : Check out, airport transfer

*for special program the schedule will be continue with the trip to Bali Island

Joint Summer Program

The workshop presents a rare opportunity for aspiring fashion designers to learn about the uniquely rich tradition of Indonesian batik, its traditional and modern manufacturing techniques and design philosophy, Participating students will learn the theoretical background of Indonesian batik and gain hands-on experience in the design and manufacturing of batik fabrics. The program provides a certificate about the accomplishment of 3 academic credits which can be transferred to ongoing degree programs of the participants in their respective home universities.

Schedule

Day 1 : Participants arrival, dormitory check in

Day 2 : Project introduction lectures

Day 3 : Canting batik practice

Day 4 : Visit to Batik Komar workshop in Bandung, West Java

Day 5 : Photography class in Bandung

Day 6 : The theory and practice of Shibory batik, individual / group design work

Day 7 : Presentation / exhibition of the students works  

Day 8 : Free time

Day 9 : Check out, airport transfer
